Kurt and Stephanie Wright serve as our music ministry team. They work together with the pastor each week to pray about the songs featured each week. We at CMA believe that praising and worshiping our Lord is a blessing for those who hear and for those who partake.
Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
Praise him in his mighty heaven!
Praise him for his mighty works;
Praise his unequaled greatness!
Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn;
Praise him with the lyre and harp!
Praise him with the tambourine and dancing;
Praise him with strings and flutes!
Praise him with a clash of cymbals;
Praise him with loud clanging cymbals.
Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
Psalm 150 (New Living Translation)
During the worship hour at Missionary Alliance Church we have a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary praise and worship songs.
There is power in praising God through music. Glorifying God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit with songs of worship, praise and adoration is a vital part of individual and corporate worship. First, it pleases God the Father. It also makes the darkness fade away and brings light and freedom into the human soul through the power of the Holy Spirit.
In our worship service we desire that each person would enter into corporate & personal worship, praise, & adoration of the King of kings, & the Lord of lords!
Listen to the third stanza of the traditional hymn, “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing.”
O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be;
Let that grace now, like a fetter, bind my wand’ring heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above.
Robert Robinson, 1758
And, listen to this contemporary praise and worship song, Hosanna (Praise is Rising).
Praise is rising
Eyes are turning to You
We turn to You
Hope is stirring
Hearts are yearning for You
We long for You
‘Cause when we see You
We find strength to face the day
In Your presence
All our fears are washed away
You are the God who saves us
Worthy of all our praises
Come have Your way among us
We welcome You here Lord Jesus
Second Chronicles 20 tells the story of a battle between the nation of Judah and the combined armies of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir. Jehoshaphat was the King of Judah at this time and he was significantly outnumbered. The first step in preparation for battle was to place singers ahead of the army singing to the Lord and praising Him. See what happened:
After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising him for his holy splendor. This is what they sang: “Give thanks to the Lord; His faithful love endures forever!” At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves.
God gave them a mighty victory that day – and it started by praising God!
